So I have been drawing a lot lately and decided that getting a another moleskine is dumb because there is so much blank paper laying around that needs to be drawn on. I have been really inspired by Brad Holland lately too. If you search for some videos on him there are some pretty good interviews. I feel like I need so try and stupify my work. Like Peter Rampson taught me too Keep It Simple Stupid. Brad Holland definitely keeps his works nice and simple and I really love it. And I love his pen and ink so thats where I got the inspiration on the drawings with the words. I finished up this semester with a 3.7 GPA which suprised me but definitely made me feel a little better and I am almost moving to San Marcos .. Super hyped! Thats all for now.
Here are some illustrations I did for The collegian for the past three weeks. They post the articles on the Collegian website which can be found here under the Editorial link....http://collegian.tccd.edu/.... They have some pretty good articles to read, so check it out if you got some time. On another note I got accepted to Texas State for the Spring semester so I will be moving down to San Marcos around December or January. Pretty excited about that cause I need some change. But anywho.. schools going good this semester grade wise and things are lookin up. Keep it real while keepin' it safe. -Nate
Here is an assignment I just finished up for my computer illustration class. The assignment was to create a brochure for "The China Town Festival". The assignment was to learn the bezier pen tool in Illustrator CS4. I definitely learned it well because rendering the lions took a long time because its all lines. I am enjoying the class so far and this was supposed to be one of the more disliked assignments so I hope there is more good to come. Til next time..
Here is some stuff I have been working on. New news is I got a job working for The Collegian, which is the newspaper for Tarrant County Community College, but I have been doing the cartoons/illustrations for them. It is new and different, but I am really enjoying it so far cause its getting me an opportunity to see what having an illustration job is like. The three illustrations in the middle was for the recent and past newspaper editions. The two paintings done in oil, the top one is for my grandparents and is 24 x 36. The bottom one is little Ozzy and is 36 x 48. I have been trying to keep up with my personal paintings and trying to experiement with new things I haven't tried before and I feel like its working and letting me find my "voice" a little better. I also finished up my sketchbook which is nice, I can't wait to start up a new one. That's all folks.
Well a lot has happened since the last post... our friend has passed away...Rest in Peace Brother... I am not moving to Virginia anymore because of financial issues.. again.. and now I am staying in Texas for this next semester and going to the community college to get some basics out of the way... Through all of this I have found that drawing all the time helps me keep my sanity for now. I am trying to start getting some paintings done too so those will be in the next post probably. Mostly I am just trying to keep my self busy for now.. I also posted the mural from South Padre. Oh and I got a new puppy named OZZY! later -nate
