First University Star Newspaper Illustration

Here is the first illustration I have done for The University Star at Texas State. It is about the Arabic program at the school growing and the graduates of the program having a positive reflection on TX State, The Bobcats.

Big Update!!

Its been a while since this has been updated but, I have been trying to draw as much as possible! I have started going to figure sessions at The Art Department which is super awesome and I am sitting in on an illustration figure class at TX State, which is great too. Also I have just started working for the TX State Newspaper - The University Star - and I am doing the Illustrations in the Main Point column. I was super stoked to start doing that, so I will be posting the first illustration I did for them later. This semester is going good so far and going by so fast it feels like.... Thanks for checking out my stuff!

Fresh Startin

I have just moved to San Marcos in my new house and I love it so far. Here are a few things I have done since I moved down here. They are really just for fun, to experiment and so I can keep painting before school starts next week. I don't have a scanner anymore so the quality of pictures aren't so hot, but it'll do for now.

My uncle is a graphic designer in DFW and he gave me the opportunity to do a pitch for the bank CoMerica. They are changing their ad styles, so below are the illustrations I did for them. They liked my illustrations but they decided to use photographs for the ads instead of illustration. I am grateful I got the chance to do this and hopefully it will open up more opportunities for the future.

HAPPY NEW YEARS!

Just a sketch I was experimenting with, but Happy new years people, 2010 was crazy and hopefully 2011 will be a great year for everyone! Party time now!

Sketchbook Update

So I have been drawing a lot lately and decided that getting a another moleskine is dumb because there is so much blank paper laying around that needs to be drawn on. I have been really inspired by Brad Holland lately too. If you search for some videos on him there are some pretty good interviews. I feel like I need so try and stupify my work. Like Peter Rampson taught me too Keep It Simple Stupid. Brad Holland definitely keeps his works nice and simple and I really love it. And I love his pen and ink so thats where I got the inspiration on the drawings with the words. I finished up this semester with a 3.7 GPA which suprised me but definitely made me feel a little better and I am almost moving to San Marcos .. Super hyped! Thats all for now.

Here is a drawing I did from a black and white photo just for fun and I liked the way it looked so I am gonna run with it. acrylic, rubber cement, gouache, and ink.
